Our school has recently been reviewed by the Education Review Office, (September 2009). Below is an excerp of that review. Read the whole review here.
Catholic Cathedral College is a coeducational, integrated, Year 7 to 13 school situated in inner city Christchurch. Students are culturally diverse and come from a wide geographical area. Since the 2006 ERO review, the roll has steadily increased. The school has been involved in significant property developments. These include a new gymnasium complex, improvements to the school frontage and planning for a new science and technology block.
There is a safe, positive and inclusive culture which is underpinned by the school’s Catholic special character. Teachers care about the wellbeing and achievement of students, and support them to achieve their personal best. Students are friendly, cooperative and show respect to adults. School leaders encourage others to share leadership responsibilities throughout the school. The board, senior leaders and teachers are developing a learning community focused on improving outcomes for students. The school is exploring ways to further engage parents in this focus on learning.
