CCC has a very strong music program with links to the Christchurch School of Music
All students in year 7 learn to play one of the classical instruments. The College has several music groups including Jazz, Rock and full orchestra as well as Glee singers.
Since 2004 all students entering Yr 7 learn to play one of the classical music instruments. Tuition and hire is free for the first year. In Yr 8 and 9 students are taught instrumental lessons as part of their curriculum. Students in these areas and seniors make up the College Concert Band, String Group and Jazz Band. Public performances are held frequently. Music is a big part of the new focus at Cathedral College.
