Last weekend, students from both Marian College and Catholic Cathedral College went hand in hand and participated in the Caritas Challenge.
Caritas Challenge is about encouraging youth to undertake an activity for 24 hours that brings them closer to the living conditions of those less fortunate.
The challenge started off with an opening mass, then ice breaker games. A trivia quiz followed to give us more knowledge about the issues our world is currently facing.
Afterwards was the building of the cardboard houses which the participants slept in overnight. Then an activity was played which was related to climate change around the world, in Kiribati in particular, and the night ended with an evening liturgy.
This year is slightly different from previous Caritas Challenges because, instead of looking for sponsorship, the participants volunteered to do community service for various organisations such as Saint Vincent de Paul, Nazareth House, Saint Peters Parish, John Paul II Centre for Life and cleaning up Graffiti around the neighbourhood.
Overall, the challenge was a great way to not only make new friends, but also to experience and be one with those who are less fortunate and are vulnerable. Thank you to everyone who has participated in the challenge as well as stepped up to help lead the challenge. A big thank you to all who have helped organize the challenge as well as to those who helped during the challenge.
