From 2025 these amounts are to be paid by the caregiver directly to the Diocese. This includes any
amounts for prior year charges that are outstanding. Please see below the letter from the Diocese
which outlines these changes and advises of next steps.

Should you have any questions in relation to these charges please contact the Attendance Dues
Team Leader, Petro Klopper, or Janice Rennell at the Diocesan office using the following details:

In the meantime, please continue to make payments in the normal way to Catholic Cathedral College
until the Diocese advises of updated bank details.

Other charges and donations

At Catholic Cathedral College, we are dedicated to offering a high-quality education while keeping
expenses manageable for our families. The following lists the types of charges which we may seek
from caregivers:

Activity Information

User Pays Charges

These will be charged as they arise throughout the year and are required to be paid for in advance of your child participating in the activity. Caregivers will be informed of their choice to purchase these items before they are provided. Examples of these are set out below:
a. Student workbooks – Students will use workbooks to allow them to participate fully in their studies such as Maths, English, History and Science. If students wish to keep and write in these workbooks then
the caregivers need to purchase the workbook directly from the stationery supplier. If a student uses a class workbook and then writes in it, it will become necessary for the cost of this workbook to be passed
onto the caregiver, as this was a class resource which cannot now be used by others.
b. Consumable subject material – Students will be provided with resources to allow them to complete their curriculum activities in courses such as hard materials, art, design and digital. The cost of
materials will be charged if the finished product is taken home and kept (e.g. a finished letterbox or item of clothing). Note the payment is to be received first before the item will be released.
c. Hire of musical instruments and / or costs for extra curricula music /performing art.
d. Extra-curricular drama or cultural activities.
e. Trips, overnight retreats, or events that are extra curricula – e.g.weekend ski trip.
f. Miscellaneous items such as school magazines, membership to student organisations, ball tickets, ID cards etc.

Sports teams In addition to the physical education programme offered at Catholic Cathedral College we encourage our students to join a sports team and engage in physical activity outside of school hours. Although these activities may consist of a team which is known as Catholic Cathedral College, participation is voluntary, and a fee will be charged in advance.

Examples of this are rugby, netball, football, and badminton played on a Wednesday after school or Saturday.

Tournaments These activities are extra-curricular and voluntary in nature. If an opportunity arises then a letter will be sent to caregivers requesting consent for the student to participate, and advising of the expected cost involved. This cost needs to be paid in advance of the tournament.

At the end of the tournament, a reconciliation will be completed and if there are further costs to pay then these will be billed. Likewise, if there a refund then that will be advised, and either repaid, or applied to other costs with your consent.

As certain costs, such as transport, will have been paid in advance of the tournament, it may be necessary to retain a certain percentage of any amount paid even if a student is required to withdraw from a tournament
at the last minute, due to illness, injury or bereavement. Any potential refund will be confirmed in consultation with you considering the reasons for the late withdrawal.

Please note – No Pay, No Play.

Overnight camps or trips

As part of the curriculum the school may deem it important for an overnight camp or trip to take place.

In these circumstances the school will cost the activity and request payment from caregivers as a donation in advance of the activity taking place.

Retreats Catholic Cathedral College places considerable importance on the teaching of Catholic Special Character. As part of this we offer retreats for different year groups throughout the year. We encourage every student to attend these when offered but note that they are not part of the curriculum and
therefore are voluntary in nature. A letter will be sent to caregivers providing the dates and expected costs of these retreats. This cost is required to be paid in advance of the retreat. As stated above, a
reconciliation will be completed and if there are further costs to pay then these will be billed. Likewise, if there a refund then that will be advised, and either repaid or applied to other costs with your consent.

Payment details
We would prefer payment is made by direct credit with details of the student identification number
and an indication as to what the payment is for (e.g. Yr7 camp). Any queries regarding payment can
be directed to Karen Watson (Student Services Administrator), via email kwa@cathcollege.school.nz
or by telephone on 982 1690.

Uniforms
Uniforms costs, including physical education tops and shorts, and the College jackets, are the
responsibility of the caregivers. These items can be purchased from Mainland Uniforms or The
Warehouse (Eastgate branch only). Costs associated with these items can be found on their
websites and details of the uniform requirements are detailed on our website at <uniform>.

Insurance
The College’s insurance policies do not cover students’ possessions and caregivers are advised to
ensure that their children’s belongings are covered by family household policies.

Financial Assistance
We are aware that it can be difficult to meet the costs as outlined above and if you are experiencing
financial difficulties, please contact Deputy Principal, Francoise Heenan, on
fh@cathcollege.school.nz or the Principal , Lee Nanai, on principal@cathcollege.school.nz.
